Chernoby Week 2012
At the Network's Annual Conference in 2011 we decided to promote Chernobyl Week across Europe from 21st to 29th April. We hope that not only Chernobyl organisations but also environmental campaigners will organise actions and events during the week to raise awareness of the ongoing effects of the disaster. Leading figures from the Austrian Govenment and Church joined 5,000 people in Vienna's candlelight commemoration. In Spain 33 organisations took part in candle actions and many towns and cities across the UK saw people making a giant 25 with candles.

In November 2010 Chernobyl organisations from eight European countries came together in Germany to discuss co-operation and the result was the launch - long overdue - of a European Chernobyl Network. Members focussed initially on holding actions to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the disaster.
