Welcome to the European Chernobyl Network
Chernobyl Week 22–29 April 2012

22–29 April 2012 is Chernobyl Week and is being marked by a week of action across Europe to raise awareness of the ongoing effects of the Chernobyl disaster of 1986 in Ukraine, which was then part of the USSR. Six ‘Liquidators’ have been invited to the United Kingdom by the UK charity, Chernobyl Children’s Life Line, and sponsored by the Association for International Education and Exchange (IBB) in Dortmund, Germany to give witness presentations of their brave efforts in the clean-up and raise the awareness of the disaster in Chernobyl.
“The heroic deed performed by Chernobyl Liquidators consists of the personal stories of hundreds of thousand of people. Many of them were there as they considered that to be their duty. Many of them paid the highest price by losing their lives or developing serious health conditions.”
